I Need Coffee - Episode 224 - Weekly BC Review! (sep 11, 2026)
1. AI Random Number Quirk
Ask models for a random number between 1–30 and they consistently return **17** first. Do not use AI for anything requiring true randomness or sensitive identifiers (GUIDs, etc.).
2. DIY Brake Job Progress
New 3-ton Harbor Freight floor jack is a beast. Pads still had plenty of life; rotors measured at disposal thickness (16.18 mm). Replacing rotors + pads himself will pay for all the tools on the first job. Messy but highly educational (learned about the hydraulic brake pump quirks on the 4Runner).
3. Trap-Neuter-Release Success
Stray cat with severe mange/scabies was trapped, treated, neutered, vaccinated, and released. Completely transformed temperament and health. Now the friendliest cat on the porch (named Messi by the shelter).
4. Dynamics GP Bulk Document Attachment Export – Version 2
Updated the free .NET utility that reverse-engineers GP’s bizarre attachment storage. Added selective multi-company, multi-transaction-type export (needed for ~4,000 documents). Required migrating the old VS 2016 / .NET 4.5.1 environment to modern Windows 11 + current AI tooling. New version coming soon on the Precipio Services site.
5. Bill.com + Business Central MEM Integration
Complex many-to-many mapping between Bill.com organizations and Binary Stream Multi-Entity Management. Built pre-vibe era; still adding features (location sync now working — something even Bill.com’s own UI struggles with once console mode is enabled). Multiple partners and prospects evaluating it. Exploring possible single-entity version.
6. AI Writing Self-Correction Moment
Late-night Claude output became incomprehensible. Steve told it: “Your writing is incomprehensible. Speak simply, clearly, succinctly for a human.”
Claude created a new skill on the spot called **“write short plain answers”** and immediately switched to clean, human-readable responses. Highly effective technique when long chats cause drift.
7. Aftermarket vs OEM Reality
Advics (OEM supplier to Toyota and others) high-carbon rotors purchased. Many “OEM” parts are actually made by the same suppliers. Cautionary tale: certain AMG engines can be permanently destroyed by incorrect spark-plug clocking.
8. 21-Day Cybersecurity Remediation
Full basic security program underway (device inventory, Entra, Intune, Defender, Conditional Access, MFA, BitLocker, etc.). Franklin and Fatima helping lead. Clock is ticking to end of September.
9. LinkedIn Founder Brand Workshop
Practical session with Ana Cherki and Candace Edelin on building a founder brand, modern LinkedIn algorithms, SEO/AIO, and AI-assisted content. Strongly recommended for anyone doing personal or company marketing on the platform.
10. Smart TV Privacy Warning
Gamers Nexus deep-dive on LG (and other) smart TVs revealed extensive tracking, network scanning, and residential proxy abuse via the app platform. A related LG entity is reportedly making billions selling consumer data. Recommendation: isolate on a dedicated VLAN or seriously reconsider smart features.
11. Transportation & Logistics Niche Growth
Expanding work with trucking, brokerage, and 3PL customers (Truckmate, Trimble TMW, etc.). Considering a more generalized TMS integration approach with a partner that has multiple transportation clients migrating from GP to BC.
